The Crack

Born in 1999 he grew in Umerkot, currently living and working in Karachi, Sheva graduated with a Distinction in Painting from the (CEAD) Centre of Excellence in Arts & Design Jamshoro, which is recently named as (SABS) University of Art Design & Heritages Jamshoro in 2023. He got 2nd Prize in Artfest Karachi (Revolution-Evolution) 2023 curated by Waheeda Balouch and has been displaying his work in various group shows. He was a participant of 3rd Anna Molka Painting award 2023, and also participant of PECHA KUCHA’S workshop organized by Karachi Biennale Trust. Sheva worked on optical illusion through combining elements of design with line and color. He used masking tape for gradually development of his work through a process of layers.

Sheva is trying to explore the possibilities of combining elements of design through line and color to create an immersive and hypnotic effect. The overlapping of many lines along an implied edge creates the impression of a hypnotic sensation. Approaching his work, the design may appear to be achieved by applying different amounts of multiple and monochromatic colors onto multiple layers on the surface. Sheva builds up from a translucent base to create a vibratory optical illusion that causes the vision to appear in the viewer’s eyes. He has tried to achieve a different sensation.
