Zahid Mayo is a Lahore based visual artist and Punjabi poet. He moved to Lahore from rural Punjab in 2005, where he studied art at National College of Arts. Many of his works are part of public and private collections internationally. He has also created site specific public art works in Lahore, Islamabad, Karachi and Hunza, while others are scattered around his motherland Punjab. Zahid had widely displayed his works nationally with two solo exhibitions and residency at Sanat Initiative, Karachi.
His work depicts his ongoing thoughts process through visuals but occasionally hewrites too. He believes that his art is a testament of his social existence. He often use thought provoking text, from his own and indigenous poetic writings to narrate his concept imbued deeply in socio-political scenarios from this region. He loves to experiment with different surfaces in public and natural spaces. His canvas can range from a tree, stone, human body, some abandoned place, a destroyed or normal wall, cloth, a window or the ground. He is an outstanding artist with core of a true expressionist painter of his time.
