About Artist and Work Process:
Shanzey addresses the ghastly plight of women in a patriarchal society through her art. She uses her canvas to narrate tales of love, loss and pleasure as experienced by women who have been dehumanized at every stage of their life. By narrating the story of women’s plight in the society she wants to take the power of defining narrative away from the bystanders and the abusers and hand it to those who lost it.
