About Artist and Work Process:
Saima is an Islamabad-based artist. She has done her Bachelors from Punjab University and Masters in Fine Arts from Hazara University. She has been passionate about the arts since her childhood. She stepped into the field professionally in 2008 when she joined Mansoor Rahi’s Art Research class. Her work has been exhibited both on national and international platforms, as she has participated in more than 50 group shows. Her international exhibitions include a display in India, Bulgaria, China, and Italy.
Having a passion for color and a desire to create, she has been inclined towards arts since my childhood. She has worked with a diverse array of methods and mediums. However, her main focus lies on architectural paintings exuberating expressionism, featuring precisely outlined contours of Pakistani cultural heritage and scenes of Murree; a mountain resort town forming the outskirts of Islamabad. The association with this place compelled me to paint the passages, architecture, and people of the Potohar region. Her signature style of bold textures signifies human emotions and how it varies with their constantly changing perceptions. Also, rendering my life experiences into her work gave her the freedom to experiment with textures and abstraction. She tries to capture the transformative phases of her life and emotions.
