Windfall

I am a Karachi based artist, graduated from Karachi School of Arts in 1993, I am working as a visual artist for almost 30 years now.

My work may appear well planned, but it’s the complete opposite. I work intuitively without planning beyond a central object, sketch of a figure, a building or a vehicle, then I create a world around that object.

I find it inhibiting to attach specific meaning to colors and forms, it hinders the progress of new visual ideas. To me it’s like an emotionally charged performance.

Blank canvas is a very exciting sight. Anything can happen. I draw and paint directly on canvas. It’s a risky method. A whole day of work can be destroyed in minutes, but there is a reward. The practice of art provides a measurable space to move without fear and anxiety and an exit when you feel like it.
