Zunaira Yousaf, recently graduated in BFA Visual Arts from Lahore College for Women University. Her body of work for thesis was based on body shaming. She has formulated a unique technique using oil paints to show the effects of body shaming upon her. Her distinctive personal style emanates joy and trauma that she faced throughout her life.
Zunaira’s work highlights the issue of body shaming, which has become very common and offensive.
People nowadays are quick in response to judging people’s outer appearance, which affects them mentally and physically.
It creates a never-ending feeling of self-consciousness and low self-esteem.
Therefore, she thinks we are beautiful and unique, and we should never allow anybody to disrespect and judge us.
She has embellished her work through the impasto technique to highlight those wounds which stay with us.
