Marium A (b. Karachi, Pakistan) is a distinguished contemporary artist whose work critically engages with the historical narratives of love through the lens of popular culture. She holds a BFA from the Indus Valley School of Art and Architecture (2006) and an MFA from Central Saint Martins, University of the Arts London (2009), along with a short course in Curating Contemporary Art from Chelsea School of Art and Design. Her significant exhibitions include solo shows such as Forever, they said… at Antidote Gallery, Dubai (2021), and An Ephemeral Culture of Love at Taseer Art Gallery, Lahore (2019), alongside group exhibitions across Pakistan, India, and New York. Marium explores the nuanced emotional landscapes of love — both sacred and profane — by reclaiming traditional craft practices. Through dense, laborious embroidery, she reconstructs found imagery of romanticized encounters, weaving them into a textured tapestry that questions the ideals of intimacy perpetuated by historical and popular visual culture.
