Sara Aslam’s practice reflectsupon the notion of home, system and utopia by accentuating fragments ofher daily life experiences, observations and imagination.She examines the correlation of these ideasthroughdrawing, painting, collage, sculpture, installation, photography, video and earth works. Her process involves manipulation, preservation or collection of ephemeral materials such as soil, cow dung, plants, fabric and wood.
Aslam received her BFA in 2016 and MFA in 2020 from Beaconhouse National University.Shehas exhibitedat the National Art Gallery, Islamabad; Alhamra Art Gallery, Lahore and Suchow University Art Expo, China. She currently lives and works in Lahore, Pakistan.
Work Statement
This letter draws upon the changing relationship with surrounding space during self-isolation. While the past year has been challenging, being confined to a space for everything lead to creative adaptations and insights. To share such experience, I found myself reaching for images, compressing emotions into language, and constructing a mind map.
