Kiran graduated from the College of Art & Design, GC University Faisalabad, in 2009 with a distinction in painting, continuing up with an MA Hons. in Visual Art from National College of Arts, Lahore, in 2013. She is highly skilled in the mediums of oil and acrylic. She has worked on some very experimental, site-specific works that explain the importance of the mundane. The nature of regular exposure may play with the perception of these objects. She was awarded the Best Young Artist award by the Alhamra Arts Council in 2013 and was artist-in-residence at the first Sanat Initiative Residency 2014 and 3rd Mansion Artist Residency 2021. She received 1st prize in the Arjumand Painting Award 2015. She has exhibited her work in solo and group shows in Pakistan, Dubai, and Italy.
For the past few years, images from Western art history have played a significant role in her work. In this work, she has combined her personal history with art history. Kiran feels as though she is re-documenting both histories in a way that turns the visual similarities into a narrative, giving the viewer more space to study and interpret already-seen images in new ways. While painting the works of the great masters using a hyper-realistic approach, on the contrary, getting a photograph printed on the canvas also makes a statement about print media, which is where all of recorded history comes from.
