About Artist and Work Process:
The main idea behind Salman’s work is to subvert his surroundings and daily routine through lines. Regardless of the nature and composition of lines, he has a knack to observe them and construct meaning out of them. He creates disturbance in the composition of lines by adding colors, collage, objects and shapes to create an optical illusion. Inspired by the works of Salvador Dali and Allan Kaprow, Salman makes a surrealistic illusion often using his hands to mix paint, a process that he describes as calming and therapeutic for him.
The pandemic influenced Salman’s work as he used it to highlight his observations on social issues and rising disparity between people. He created muddled compositions out of lines which had no connection to show how quarantine has cornered us in a physical space we all long to escape, but can’t.
