Hafsa J is a visual artist based in Lahore, Pakistan. She earned her BFA from the College of Art and Design at the University of the Punjab, Lahore, in 2021, and completed her MFA in 2023 from the National College of Arts, Lahore. Hafsa has participated in numerous group exhibitions across prominent national galleries.

As a multidisciplinary visual artist, her practice explores power dynamics within both traditional and contemporary contexts. Her work narrates political structures, tracing their evolution from kingdoms and dynasties to modern nation-states and social systems. Drawing inspiration from Persian manuscripts and her own photographic documentation, Hafsa examines inherent hierarchies—particularly within the realm of domestic politics

Infused with dark humor, her imagery reflects the raw and often traumatic experiences of growing up in a large, frequently contentious family. Her aesthetic—marked by a distinct color palette, loaded symbolism, and intricate details—is deeply influenced by Persian manuscripts and the Mughal era. Through her art, she critically questions the perceived purity and sanctity of cultural and societal norms.
