Born and raised in Lahore, Ramsah (b.1996) graduated from the University of Punjab, College of Art and Design with a major in Painting in 2018. She recently had her Master’s Degree from the National College of Arts. Her art practice deals with process-based work where she explores her interest in materiality. She recently was a part of the group show ‘Flower of the blue flames’ at Canvas Gallery Karachi. She also has exhibited her work in various group shows i.e. “Traces” at O art space, “Camouflage” held at Taseer Art Gallery Lahore in 2019, and an emerging artist exhibition at VM art Gallery Karachi.

Her work is about creating abstract forms inspired by the mundane, mass-produced objects in her environment. By reusing these forms and distorting them, she achieves ambiguity while keeping the essence of these objects alive.

She is driven by a fascination with mechanical forms and how these banal commodities like switchboards, water faucets, and electricity meters influence describing an individual’s identity and space.

The plastic and static quality of the resin helps to retain a minimal resemblance to the original objects which can be interpreted and associated with by the viewer individually. These flat-shaped sculptures are the outcome of a process-based material investigation by simplifying the expression of visual language through the formal aspects of art. Using forms, shapes, and colors the process consists of techniques of molding and casting with a combination of the industrial material (resin) into geometric forms.
