Sheva Raam Born in 1999 he grew in Umerkot, currently living and working in Karachi, Sheva Ram graduated with a Distinction in Painting from the (CEAD) Centre of Excellence in Arts & Design Jamshoro, which is recently named as (SABS) University of Art Design & Heritages Jamshoro in 2023. He got 2nd Prize in Artfest Karachi (Revolution-Evolution) 2023 curated by Waheeda Balouch and has been displaying his work in various group shows including Artfest Karachi 2021, Graduates Exhibition at art council of Pakistan Karachi 2023, Emerging artist exhibition held by O Art Space gallery 2023, and participant of 3rd Anna Molka Painting award 2023, and also participant of PECHA KUCHA’S workshop organized by Karachi Biennale Trust. Sheva chose painting as his major. Sheva worked on optical illusion through combining elements of design with line and color. He used masking tape for gradually development of his work through a process of layers.
In their exploration of design possibilities, the individual endeavors to merge elements of line and color, crafting an immersive and hypnotic effect. The creation involves the strategic overlap of numerous lines along an implied edge, eliciting a sense of hypnotic sensation. The approach incorporates the application of varying amounts of multiple and monochromatic colors across multiple layers on the surface. Progressing from a translucent base, the artist builds up a vibratory optical illusion, casting a spell on the viewer’s eyes and evoking a different sensation.
