Artist Statement

My current body of work is representative of an on-going researchfrom many years. Based mainly onexperience of investigating and documenting my hometown,an ancient site of Tulamba, located in Southern Punjab. Being alone on this journey, explorationof space allowed me to encounterthe vast landwith solitude; sometimes recalling oral narratives about this place from myancestors andhearing the sounds while viewing the sights of the site and from the site. Contemplating the liminality between the two.

I am fascinated by the fact that eachrelic or even a pebble on this site holds a story to tell, evident of the glorified history and culture of various civilizations .The choice ofmedium for this series is pen on paper withintricately executeddrawing depicting the muted conversations with land and its inhabitants whereas silver is use as metaphor for an oral lore.
